It is now 14 years since Ascent Partners was founded.

The story dates back to 2008 when I was working for a local valuation firm. A family-run business, the company resorted to a dated, cumbersome management style that I increasingly doubted.

My background in tech convinced me that there were many more modern ways to operate an efficient business using technology. Opening a new firm amid the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the last century, I forged ahead and decided to start my advisory and valuation firm on my own in September 2008.

I was joined by three other brave souls-William Yuen, Paul Wu, and Hauman Yeung, with whom I had the privilege of having worked with professionally previously. We formed this management team from varied backgrounds – industry, technology, environment and natural valuation, and this diversity has allowed us to be an exceptionally agile and adaptive team, able to spot the nuances and changes in an ever-evolving business environment, and act swiftly. The team later had the honour of having Mr. Ronald Ho, the great grandson of the late Sir Robert Hotung, as the Chairman of the board in 2009. Ronald brought in years of management experience in professional service firms and helped us lay the foundations for our early client pool. Sadly, Ronald passed away in 2016, but his legacy, his kindness and his wisdom remains with us to this day.

Ascent Partners started with a single vision: to flourish together with our clients, through the cultivation of dependable, long-term relationships. Over the last fourteen years, we strive every day to meet this vision as one loyal, unwavering team, with all the founding members still as devoted today as they were on the first day. As Steve Jobs put it, the only way to do great work is to love what you do, and we at Ascent Partners follow this philosophy. The stability and devotion of our core team is what has kept Ascent Partners thriving for well over a decade.

We started from square one, and we are now trusted by more than 400 leading corporations with our advisory and valuation services from our offices in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Singapore.
